WoW, it’s over

It’s official. I’ve cancelled my World of Warcraft subscription. I’ve reached 70 but couldn’t really be bothered to find a guild (and all the politics that goes with that) so all that’s left is the grind and I’m just not interested in doing that.

It’s simply not fun anymore. There are a couple of minor highlights, like the 2v2 PVP team I’m in with my RL friends, but even getting this going is a major act in scheduling or a lucky happenstance. I also think my original rolling on a PVP server hasn’t helped. I really don’t like the non-consensual PVP. Transferring to a PVE server isn’t really an option either. 10 toons at $25 USD each = yikes.

So, as it is, I’m done.

I briefly tried Lord of the Rings Online but this game just didn’t grab me. I find the game world visuals kind of dull. Don’t get me wrong, the graphics are awesome, they’re just not very interesting. It’s trying to be too ‘real life’ for my liking. I also found the combat system a bit clunky. It doesn’t have the direct action-consequence feel that WoW does. In LOTRO I feel like I could hit any button and it wouldn’t matter. Maybe it was just my being a noob but I don’t care enough to find out so I’ve cancelled that sub too.

If anyone wants a free LOTRO 10 day trial post a comment with your preferred email address and I’ll send you one.

Anyway, soon I’ll have a PS3 and I won’t care about long drawn out MMO’s. Especially not when GT5 finally arrives.
